Kho-Kho World Cup Trophy And Mascots: The first World Cup of Kho-Kho is going to be organized in India from 13 to 19 January, in which matches in both men’s and women’s categories will be played. The trophy and mascot for the first World Cup were unveiled at an event held in Delhi on 3 January. 21 men and 20 women teams will participate in this tournament at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. The World Cup will have two trophies – a blue trophy for the men’s championship and a green trophy for the women’s event. The pair ‘Tejas’ and ‘Tara’, which serve as official mascots, were also introduced. A blue trophy for the men’s championship and a green trophy for the women’s event. Both the trophies reflect the dynamic spirit of Kho-Kho through their contemporary design, featuring flowing curves and golden motifs.

Indian men’s team will play its first match against Nepal

Men’s teams from 20 countries are participating in the first Kho-Kho World Cup, in which the Indian men’s team will play its first match against the Nepal team on the very first day of the tournament. All the teams have been divided into four different groups in which the top-2 teams in each group will secure their place for the quarter-finals. Apart from Nepal, the Indian team has got a place in Group A along with the teams of Peru, Brazil and Bhutan. If we talk about other groups, South Africa, Ghana, Argentina, Netherlands and Iran have got place in Group B, while Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, South Korea, America and Poland are in Group C. Group D has teams of England, Germany, Malaysia, Australia and Kenya.

Women’s team will play match against South Korea on January 14

The Indian women’s Kho-Kho team will play its first match in the World Cup on January 14 against the South Korean team. Along with them, the teams of Iran and Malaysia have also got a place in Group A. Apart from this, Group B has teams of England, Australia, Kenya, Uganda and Netherlands while Group C has Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Germany and Bangladesh. Apart from this, Group D includes South Africa, New Zealand, Poland, Peru and Indonesia.

One team each from every continent of the world is taking part.

Regarding Kho-Kho World Cup, Secretary Sudhanshu Mittal said that one country from every continent of the world is definitely arriving to participate in this tournament, 24 countries have arrived to participate in this tournament. This game moved from clay to mat and has spread all over the world. There will be an opening ceremony before this tournament. Till now 4 lakh children are associated with this game and their registration has been done. We are extremely grateful to all our stakeholders who will join us to support the inaugural edition of Kho-Kho World Cup 2025. The World Cup will be live streamed for free on Disney+ Hotstar and also for free on DD Sports and will give a huge boost to India’s indigenous sport. This is the first step towards taking the world sport to the Olympics and with the help of all our partners we look forward to showing the world the beauty of Kho-Kho.

General Secretary of Kho-Kho Federation of India Shri M.S. Tyagi said that this World Cup is an important moment for Kho-Kho which is transforming our indigenous game into a global event. The overwhelming response from 24 countries reflects the universal appeal of Kho-Kho and its ability to unite diverse cultures through the game. With world-class infrastructure and the support of our respected stakeholders, we are confident of organizing a tournament that will set new standards in sporting excellence and establish Kho-Kho as a dynamic modern game on the international stage.

Kho-Kho World Cup matches will be telecast live on Doordarshan and Disney Plus Hotstar.

The men’s and women’s first Kho-Kho World Cup matches to be held at the Indira Gandhi Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium from January 13 to 19 will be telecast live on Doordarshan. Fans can also watch the matches of this tournament online on Disney Plus Hotstar.
