Derogatory Remarks Against PM Modi During INDIA Bloc Rally Spark Legal Battle in Bihar

Patna, Sep 4 : The political atmosphere in Bihar has intensified following a controversial incident during the INDIA Bloc’s Voter Rights Yatra in Darbhanga, where alleged derogatory remarks were made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother. This has now escalated to the legal arena, with a criminal complaint filed at the Jamui Civil Court by local resident Satish Chandra Gupta. The complaint names prominent INDIA Bloc leaders Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, and Mukesh Sahani as the main accused, along with 100 unidentified persons. The court has fixed September 17 as the date for the next hearing, and the matter is rapidly gaining public and political attention.
According to Gupta’s lawyer, Brijnandan Singh, the complaint has been registered under various sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sahita (BNS) Act. He claims that hundreds of supporters from the INDIA Bloc stage used “abusive” and offensive language that hurt the sentiments of millions across the country. The leaders have been held accountable as the alleged remarks were made from their political platform and in their presence, which the complaint argues makes them legally responsible. Advocate Singh stressed that such behavior is not only a personal insult to Prime Minister Modi but also an affront to the values of Indian democracy, where elected representatives are expected to be treated with dignity.
The individual accused of making the inflammatory remarks, Mohammad Rizvi alias Raza, was arrested from Singhwada block in Darbhanga after a video of his speech went viral on social media, triggering widespread criticism. His arrest came amid increasing political tension and calls for accountability. The incident has drawn condemnation from multiple political circles, particularly from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has launched a full-fledged offensive against the INDIA Bloc. The BJP argues that the INDIA Bloc’s failure to immediately disown or denounce the remarks reflects poorly on its leadership and sense of responsibility.
In response, the BJP’s Bihar unit announced a statewide bandh, demonstrating the seriousness with which the party is treating the issue. Senior BJP leaders, including Bihar state president Dilip Jaiswal, former Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, and former Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad, led street protests to voice their outrage. The BJP has vowed to pursue the matter both legally and politically, framing the controversy as not just an insult to an individual, but a direct attack on the institution of the Prime Minister and the democratic values of the nation. As the court prepares for the next hearing, the country will be watching closely to see how the situation unfolds in the coming weeks.
