Recipe for making moong dal mangoda/pakoras
First step- To make Moong Dal Mangoda, soak about 1 cup of peeled green Moong Dal in water overnight. Wash the lentils with clean water 1-2 times in the morning. Keep in mind that the peel of the lentils should not come off. Mangoda made from peeled lentils turns out to be more crunchy.
Second step- After washing the lentils, drain the water completely. Now put the lentils in a mixer and grind them coarsely. Chop green onions for mangoda. If green onion is not available then cut normal onion lengthwise and thinly. Chop 2 green chillies and crush some ginger and garlic.
Third step- Now add onion, ginger garlic, green chilli, chopped coriander to the dal. Add salt, asafoetida, some garam masala and chilli as per taste to the dal. Mixing all the ingredients, pulse the dal well. Now heat oil in a pan, put the lentils like pakodas and fry them. The size of Mangoda can be kept as big or small as per your choice. Roast them on medium flame so that the lentils sink inside.
Fourth step- Prepare all the mangoes by frying them in the same manner. You can eat mangoes with green chutney or sauce. Apart from this, you can also try them with tea. Believe me, you will find moong dal mangodas even tastier than gram flour pakodas. Even on Makar Sankranti, people prepare Mangoda and eat it.
