Odisha: The Vacant Seats At Panchayat Level Will Be Filled Soon

Bhubaneswar: Another scenario of election is going to happened in Odisha soon. The Odisha State Election Commission will conduct by-elections to fill 5 Zilla parshad members, 41 Panchayat Samiti Sabhya posts, 45 Sarpanch posts and 272 ward members posts. The corrections and objection window will be open till April 30. The electoral rolls will be prepared by the electoral officers between April 17 and April 22. This voter list will be officially published on April 24 at the respective Gram Panchayat headquarters. A review and correction process will take place from May 2 to May 5. The final revised voter lists will be submitted to the State Election Commission on May 9.

The last elections to fill 771 wards vacancies will also be held now. Posts in these wards lay vacant as these were reserved for Scheduled caste (SC), Scheduled tribe (ST) and Women candidates. As there were no nominations filed in these reserved seats, the elections were suspended here. According to the Secretary of State Election Commission, preparations are at a last stage. The voter list will be finalised soon in these wards. The election officers will prepare ward-wise electoral rolls using data from the Central Election Commission.

Following that, Subsequently, following the recommendations of District Collectors these wards were revised and given an unreserved status.
