Odia New Year Is Celebrated Across The State On The Occasion Of Mahavishuba Pana Sankranti

Bhubaneswar: Today is the holy Pana Sankranti. On the occasion of Mahavishuba Pana Sankranti the Odia New Year is celebrated across the state. From today, the Odia calendar (Panji) will start as per the the temple of Lord Jagannath. Pana Sankranti is celebrated by the people of Odisha under different names. In South Odisha, it is called Jhamu Yatra, Meru Yatra and in North Odisha, it is celebrated with Chadaka Yatra. Danda patuas walk in front of the temple of Goddess with fire.
