Trump Imposes 100% Tariff on Pharmaceuticals; Major Impact Expected on Indian Exports

Washington , Sept 26 : US President Donald Trump has once again taken a big decision related to tariffs. He has imposed a 100 percent tariff on the pharmaceutical sector. Due to this decision of Trump, medicines will now be subject to a 100 percent tariff. Trump gave this information by sharing a post on the social media platform ‘Truth’.
Trump said that he is increasing the tariff on pharmaceutical products. However, due to this step of Trump, it can have a significant impact on major Indian pharmaceutical manufacturers. Many pharmaceutical manufacturing companies have created a good market in America.
Donald Trump said in another post, we will impose a 50 percent tariff on kitchenware, bathroomware and related products from October 1, 2025. In addition, a 30 percent tariff will be imposed on furniture. The main reason for this is that other countries are sending such products to the US in large quantities.
Trump said, “To protect our heavy truck manufacturers from unfair foreign competition, I am imposing a 25 percent tariff on all heavy trucks made elsewhere in the world.” This tariff will be effective from October 1, 2025. This will protect our major truck manufacturing companies such as Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner and others from outside interference. We have to keep our truck drivers financially strong and empowered.
It is noteworthy that the tariffs have been a source of tension between India and the United States for some time. Now, talks have begun between the two countries. After the visit of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal to the US, the hopes of a trade agreement have also increased.
