Fatal road accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Chintur: One BSF jawan killed, 6 critically injured

Andhra Pradesh, October 21: A tragic road accident took place in Chintur district of Andhra Pradesh. One BSF jawan was killed and six others were seriously injured.

According to reports, BSF Havildar Gaurav Pandey of 142nd Battalion was returning from Bali Mela in Malkangiri district after leave when he died on the spot. He and six other jawans were travelling in an Innova car, which collided with a truck/culvert and overturned.

The accident took place at Chatti Gorelagudem Kunavaram junction in Chintur division this morning. The BSF jawans were travelling from Khammam to Malkangiri at the time of the accident.

After the accident, the seriously injured jawans were first taken to the Chintamani Government Hospital, from where they were shifted to the Bhadrachalam Medical Centre in Telangana. Their condition was critical and they had to be shifted for specialist treatment.

The Chintamani police reached the spot and registered a case and have started an investigation into the cause of the accident. Whether the accident was due to driver negligence or any other reason will be determined after the investigation.

The accident has once again proved that caution and safety standards are of utmost importance during emergency journeys in this region. A precious life has been lost, and many families are left in grief.
