Year Ender 2024: The year 2024 can be considered very disappointing for the Indian women’s cricket team in the T20 International, in which it could not succeed in winning even a single major tournament. This year, Team India participated in the Women’s Asia Cup and then the Women’s T20 World Cup. In both these tournaments, the Indian women’s team was considered among the strong contenders to win the title, but all the fans had to face disappointment. This year, Team India played a total of 23 T20 International matches, out of which it managed to win 15 but had to face defeat in 7 while one match was cancelled.
Lost series against Australia, Bangladesh wiped out
In the year 2024, the Indian women’s team played its first T20 series at home against the Australian women’s team in three matches in which they lost 2-1. Team India was successful in winning the first match of this series but they had to face defeat in the remaining two matches. After the end of this series, the Indian women’s team toured Bangladesh where they had to play a 5-match T20 series and in this they whitewashed Bangladesh in their own home.
Series with South Africa was equal, lost in the final of Women’s Asia Cup
After sweeping Bangladesh at home, the Indian women’s team played a three-match T20 series against the South African women’s team at home, in which Team India had to face defeat in the first match and the second match was cancelled. Team India won the last and decisive match of the series by 10 wickets and ended the series at 1-1. After the end of this series, Team India reached Sri Lanka to play the Women’s Asia Cup tournament, in which the team’s performance was one-sided till the final, but in the title match, they had to face defeat against Sri Lanka by 8 wickets.
Out of group stage in Women’s T20 World Cup
The New Zealand team was successful in winning the Women’s T20 World Cup played in UAE this year, but the Indian team was also among the strong contenders to win the title. However, Team India had its worst performance till date in which it lost 2 out of 4 matches of the group stage and was eliminated before the knockout stage.
Won the last series of the year by 2-1
The Indian women’s team played its last series in the T20 format in 2024 against West Indies at home in three matches. The Indian team was successful in winning the first match of this series, but by winning the second match, the West Indies team leveled the series at 1-1. Then the Indian women’s team ended the year by winning the last match unilaterally by 60 runs. Ended with a 2-1 series win.
