WTC: Team India can play the World Test Championship final even if the Gabba Test is drawn, these are the equations
It is difficult to say what will happen in Gaba on December 18, but the match has reached a very interesting phase. Team India’s star batsman could not do much. However, first KL Rahul and then Ravindra Jadeja kept Team India alive in the match by playing half-century innings. After this, Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep added excitement to the match by playing short innings. It is only because of the innings of these two that Team India has been successful in avoiding the follow-on, otherwise the picture could have been different by now. Now the question is that if the Gabba Test is a draw then how can Team India enter the final of the World Test Championship. What are its equations and scenarios? Let us explain the whole situation to you.
Possibility of third test draw
At present the series being played between India and Australia is on par. While Team India won the first match by a huge margin, Australia made a comeback in the second match and won the match. That means the series is on par. Now the third match is going on. Four days have passed since then. If we talk about the conditions so far, it seems that the match will be a draw. Actually, rain caused a lot of disturbance in this match, due to which both the teams got defeated. Therefore, this match is going till the last day and there is very little possibility that the result will be known. Both teams have not yet finished their first innings. In such a situation, it would be meaningless to expect who will win and who will lose.
Team India will have to win both the remaining matches of the series.
Meanwhile, if the match is drawn, what equations will be created for Team India for the World Test Championship, it is quite interesting. If Team India is successful in winning the last two matches i.e. the fourth and fifth matches, then Team India will definitely reach the semi-finals, it will not need to depend on any other team. But if out of the remaining two matches, the Indian team wins one match and loses the other. That means, if the series ends in a tie of 2-2, then there will be a possibility for Team India, but it will have to depend on the other team.
If we lose then the final will depend on Sri Lanka
If the series ends in a draw, then it has to be expected that when the Australian team goes to Sri Lanka, it will have to face defeat in the two-Test series. If this happens then Team India can go to the final. That means a lot of multiplication is mathematics. This is the last series of the World Test Championship for Team India. That means India’s journey will end after playing two more matches, but the Australian team will tour Sri Lanka for two Test matches. It should be expected that Team India wins these two matches and secures its place in the WTC final.
