The one who was not bought by anyone in IPL auction, created havoc by scoring a century in 35 balls, Afridi’s record broken
The mega auction of IPL 2025 was held in Jeddah on 24th and 25th of last month in which many players were showered with huge amounts of money. But there were many players whom no one bought even at the base price and remained unsold. Now one such unsold player has given a befitting reply to all the IPL teams. In fact, the 26-year-old right-handed Indian batsman has created a new history by scoring a stormy century. This batsman made a record of scoring a century in so few balls, due to which Shahid Afridi’s great record of scoring a century in 37 balls was also broken. Now this batsman has become the Indian batsman to score the fastest century in List A cricket.
The 26 year old batsman not only destroyed Shahid Afridi’s record but also Yusuf Pathan’s record. Earlier, Yusuf Pathan had done the feat of scoring a century in 40 balls, which was the record for the fastest century for India in List A cricket. Pathan had done this feat while playing for Baroda in the year 2009-10.
No one bought in IPL
The name of the batsman we are talking about is Anmolpreet Singh. Anmolpreet remained unsold in the mega auction of IPL 2025. About a month after this auction, Anmolpreet, while playing for Punjab in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, did a great feat of scoring a century in just 35 balls. In this way the record of the fastest Indian century in List-A cricket was shattered. The first Indian batsman to score the fastest century was Yusuf Pathan, who did the feat of scoring a century in 40 balls.
World record missed being broken
Anmolpreet Singh missed breaking the world record by just 6 balls. The record for the fastest century in List A cricket is in the name of 22-year-old Australian batsman Jake Fraser-McGurk. Jake Fraser had created a great record by scoring a stormy century in just 29 balls while playing for South Australia against Tasmania in the Marsh Cup tournament in the year 2023.
