Sports world is in mourning due to the demise of Manmohan Singh, many stars including Sachin-Sindhu paid emotional tribute.
Veterans of the Indian sports world paid tribute to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and called him a visionary. Singh died in Delhi on Thursday following age-related ailments. He was 92 years old. India’s experienced badminton player PV Sindhu wrote on ‘X’ that may your soul rest in peace Manmohan Singhji. His quiet strength, wisdom and humility were inspiring. I had a brief conversation with him in 2013. He was very polite and left a lasting impression. Condolences to his family.
Great cricketer Sachin Tendulkar wrote that the demise of Dr. Manmohan Singhji is a big loss for India. His contribution to the country will always be remembered. My prayers for his family.
In his honour, players of the Indian women’s and men’s cricket teams took to the field in their respective matches on Friday wearing black armbands. Former World Cup-winning cricketer Yuvraj Singh wrote on Twitter that he was a visionary leader and a true administrator who worked tirelessly for the progress of India. His scholarship and humility will be remembered. My condolences to his family.
Former spinner and Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha member Harbhajan Singh wrote that Manmohan Singh stood out because of his calm nature and steady leadership in times of crisis. His ability to deal with political complexities and his unwavering belief in India’s potential set him apart.
Former wrestler and Congress MLA from Haryana Vinesh Phogat said that Dr. Manmohan Singh was not only the Prime Minister but also a thinker, economist and a true patriot. His calm leadership style and economic foresight gave a new direction to the country. Former cricketers Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman and former Indian women’s hockey team captain Rani Rampal also expressed grief over his demise.
