Sports Minister launches Fit India Cycling Drive, so many drivers participate in the event
Fit India Cycling Drive was launched at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi. India’s Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya was also present in this event. He launched this event on Tuesday. The real motive behind this initiative is to promote cycling as a sustainable and healthy mode of transportation. During the event, more than 500 cyclists took part in a three-kilometre long journey from the stadium to Raisina Hills. On this occasion, along with Mandaviya, many prominent players like Minister of State for Sports Raksha Khadse, MP Tejashwi Surya, Paris Paralympics bronze medalist Simran Sharma, Commonwealth Games gold medalist Neetu Ghanghas and Asian Games bronze medalist Preeti Pawar were also present.
Special arrangements for cycling enthusiasts
Mandaviya launched the event as Fit India Cycling Tuesday, but it will be held on Sunday for cycling enthusiasts, and will be named ‘Sunday on Cycle’. He said that on Sunday, doctors, teachers, journalists, corporate professionals and youth would participate in the one-hour cycle journey. The initiative aims to promote cycling across the country and help reduce pollution, while also raising environmental awareness.
What did the Sports Minister say?
The event was organized in collaboration with the Fit India initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Cycling Federation of India, MY Bharat and various sports authorities. The event featured simultaneous cycling competitions held at over 1,000 locations across the country, with over 50,000 people participating. These competitions held at the Regional Centers of Sports Authority of India, National Centers of Excellence (NCOE) and Khelo India Centers (KIC) made it even more important. Regarding cycling, Mandaviya said that it not only promotes the environment, but it is also an inspiration to adopt a healthy lifestyle. He said that cycling improves physical fitness and is suitable for people of all ages.
