SMAT: Mumbai’s entry in the final, Hardik Pandya’s team kept watching, Ajinkya Rahane missed a century.
Mumbai team has confirmed its place in the final by winning another match. Mumbai team defeated Baroda very easily, but Mumbai opener Ajinkya Rahane missed completing his century. The curtain is yet to be lifted on who will be the second team to go to the final of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Meanwhile, the wish of joining Baroda’s file under the captaincy of Krunal Pandya could not be fulfilled. His brother Hardik Pandya is also playing in the same team.
Coming to bat first in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Baroda team could not score big. Shivalik Sharma scored the most runs for the team, who returned unbeaten on 36 runs. Ajinkya Rahane was the biggest hero of this victory of Mumbai. He may not have been able to complete his century, but he was out after taking his team to the door of victory. He played a stormy innings of 98 runs on 56 balls. During this period, 11 fours and three sixes came from his bat. When the team needed to score ten runs to win, Rahane was playing on 90 runs. He took his score to 98 by hitting two fours. Now the team needed two runs to win and Rahane needed the same number of runs for his century. Meanwhile Abhimanyu Singh bowled a wide ball. Now the scores of both the teams were equal.
Suryakumar Yadav did not score runs from his bat.
Ajinkya Rahane needed two runs for his century, but Mumbai needed one run to win. That means, if Rahane had hit a four or a six, only then his century would have been completed. Rahane tried the same thing. But the ball stood there and he was out. After this, Suryakumar Yadav was also out on the same score. He scored one run on seven balls. Although only one run was needed to win, hence Mumbai did not face much problem and the team won the match by 6 wickets.
