Rs 12 crore deducted from Kolkata Knight Riders purse before mega auction.

The 18th season of the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL will be played in the year 2025 but before that a mega player auction will be organized, for which all the franchises have announced the names of their retained players. This also includes the Kolkata Knight Riders team that won the IPL 2024 trophy, who did not retain their captain Shreyas Iyer. Whereas the KKR team has retained a total of 6 players, which include the names of Rinku Singh, Varun Chakraborty, Sunil Narayan, Andre Russell, Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh. In this way, KKR spent a total of Rs 57 crore out of its purse of Rs 120 crore but Rs 12 crore more have been deducted from their purse, behind which there is a big rule of the IPL Governing Council.

Due to this, Rs 12 crore was deducted from KKR’s account.

While the Kolkata Knight Riders team retained Rinku Singh for Rs 13 crore before the mega player auction of IPL 2025, they retained Varun Chakraborty, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell for Rs 12 crore each, while Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh were retained for Rs 12 crore each. KKR retained him as an uncapped player for Rs 4 crore each. Now, while they spent a total of Rs 57 crores to retain 6 players, an amount for each slot had already been fixed by the IPL Governing Council, in this situation, if the player to be retained If less money is received than that, then the remaining money will be deducted from the franchisee’s purse. KKR chose Rinku Singh as its first retained player, to whom he paid Rs 13 crore, whereas under the rules of IPL, the first retained player can be given Rs 18 crore. In such a situation, KKR gave Rs 5 crore less to Rinku Singh which was deducted from his purse. Similarly, Varun Chakraborty got Rs 2 crore less.

As the third retention, KKR gave Rs 12 crore to Sunil Narine in which he spent Rs 1 crore more than the fixed slab. The fourth retained player was to get Rs 18 crore but KKR retained Andre Russell for Rs 12 crore and thus they got Rs 6 crore less. In this way, KKR spent only Rs 57 crore but their purse was reduced by another Rs 12 crore.

Only Rs 51 crore left with KKR at the time of auction

While the KKR team has retained 4 capped and 2 uncapped players, on the other hand they will now have only Rs 51 crores at the time of mega player auction, hence, it is not going to be an easy task at all for them to choose a better player. .
