Ravi Shastri’s honest words to Rohit Sharma, he said – he will have to take a decision; pointed towards
Ravi Shastri On Rohit Sharma: Indian team captain Rohit Sharma is struggling with very poor form and runs have stopped coming from the bat. In the current Test series against Australia, he has not yet scored a single half-century with his bat. Team India is having to pay the price for their poor play by losing the match. Rohit has scored only 31 runs in five innings at an average of 6.20 and during this he scored 3, 6, 10, 3 and 9 runs which is the lowest average of any foreign captain on Australian soil. On the other hand, Virat Kohli has also not been able to perform as per his name. Now former Indian team coach Ravi Shastri has said a big thing on this.
He will have to take a decision at the end of the series: Shastri
Ravi Shastri told ‘Star Sports’ that I think Virat will play for some time. Forget the way he is getting out, or other things, whatever. I think he will play for another three or four years. He said that as far as Rohit is concerned, he will have to take a decision. In the top order I think his footwork is not the same as before. He probably delays playing shots at times. Therefore at the end of the series he will have to take a decision.
Shastri pointed towards technical problems
Shastri pointed out technical problems in Rohit’s batting, especially his front foot movement. He said that we have seen many times in the series that his front foot is not going towards the ball as much as it should. There are rumors going on on social media that after the last Test match to be held in Sydney, Indian captain Rohit Sharma can take a big decision on his Test career.
Irfan Pathan raised big questions
Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan said that a player who has scored almost 20,000 runs – yet the way Rohit is struggling now, it seems that his form is not supporting him at all. What is happening now is that he is the captain, so he is playing. If he had not been the captain then perhaps he would not have been playing right now. Lokesh Rahul would have been playing at the top. Would have been (successful) Jaiswal. Shubman Gill. If we talk about reality, then looking at him perhaps he does not get a place in the playing field. But because he is the captain and you want to level the series by winning the next match, he remains in the team.
