PV Sindhu wins gold medal in Syed Modi International Badminton Tournament, defeats Chinese player in the final
India’s star female player PV Sindhu has seen a one-sided performance in the final match of the Syed Modi International Super 300 Badminton Tournament going on in Lucknow. Sindhu won the gold medal with a straight sets win against Chinese player Luo Yu Wu in the final match held on December 1. Sindhu has won the title of Syed Modi International Tournament for the third time in her career.
Sindhu did not give the Chinese player a chance to make a comeback in both the sets.
PV Sindhu kept her pressure on Chinese player Luo Yu Wu right from the first set of the final match in which she won it 21-14. After this, in the second set also, Sindhu continued her excellent performance and won it 21-16. Sindhu was completely dominant during the entire match in which she did not even once give any chance to the Chinese player to make a comeback. This is the first title for Sindhu in the year 2024, whereas she last won a title in the Singapore Open held in July in the year 2022, after which she has now managed to end the drought that was going on.
Made it to the finals of a tournament for the second time this year
The year 2024 was nothing special for PV Sindhu, who won the Olympic medal twice for India, in which she managed to make it to the finals only twice. Even in the Paris Olympics, Sindhu could not perform as per expectations and was eliminated in the round of 16. Apart from this, she was successful in making it to the final of Malaysia Masters but here she had to face defeat from the Chinese player.
