Pakistan agreed to hybrid model of Champions Trophy 2025, but put this condition before ICC
The matter regarding Champions Trophy 2025 is still completely stuck. India has clearly refused to visit Pakistan. Since then ICC has been convincing Pakistan for the hybrid model. After several rounds of negotiations, Pakistan has finally agreed to conduct the tournament in the hybrid model, but the Pakistan Cricket Board has also put a big condition before the ICC. Which seems impossible. PTI report has revealed that the Pakistan Cricket Board has told the ICC that it will organize the Champions Trophy in the hybrid model only if the ICC tournaments to be held in India till 2031 are played on the hybrid model.
Pakistani demand
Apart from this, Pakistan Cricket Board has put one more condition. A PCB source has informed that PCB also wants a greater share in the ICC’s annual revenue cycle. The PCB source said that the current situation is that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said that he will accept hosting of the Champions Trophy on the hybrid model only if the board agrees that in future all ICC tournaments will be held on this system and Pakistan Will not go to play matches in India.
Four ICC tournaments will be in danger
India has to play four ICC tournaments till the year 2031. In which Women’s ODI World Cup is to be played in 2025 and T20 World Cup in 2026. Apart from India, it is also hosted by Sri Lanka. Both the countries will jointly organize the T20 World Cup. Apart from this, the Champions Trophy to be held in 2029 and the 2031 ODI World Cup are also included. However, Bangladesh is also hosting this ODI World Cup. If ICC agrees to this then all these four tournaments will come under controversy. Due to which players will have to face a lot of trouble. However, no response has been given yet by ICC regarding this condition of Pakistan.
