Now a historic double century in the Boxing Day Test, this batsman made the biggest score

The year 2024 is about to end and the Boxing Day Test is all the rage in the cricket world. The Boxing Day Test between India and Australia started in Melbourne from 26 December, on the third day i.e. 28 December, a brilliant century was seen from India. This century came at a time when Team India was in trouble. On the third day in the Melbourne Test, Nitish Kumar Reddy, batting at number 8, scored the first century of his Test career and made many records in his name. This century of Nitish Kumar was termed by many veterans as one of the best innings of Test cricket. After Nitish Kumar Reddy’s brilliant century, now a spectacular double century has been seen in the Boxing Day Test. The only difference is that this double century came not in the India vs Australia Test match but in the Boxing Day Test of Zimbabwe vs Afghanistan. The interesting thing is that this double century also came on the third day of the Boxing Day Test.
Record partnership between captain and Rahmat Shah
The Boxing Day Test between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan is being played at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. In this match, Zimbabwe created a new history by batting first. Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to bat first. Three batsmen of the team took great notice of Afghanistan’s bowlers and scored brilliant centuries. In this way, Zimbabwe scored 586 runs in its first innings, which is its highest score in Test cricket. In response to this huge score of Zimbabwe, the Afghanistan team had a very poor start. The team’s opening pair returned to the pavilion within 64 runs. After this, Rahmat Shah and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi took charge and gradually took the team’s score beyond 400. During this, both of them made the record of the biggest partnership for Afghanistan in Test. There has been a partnership of more than 350 runs between the two batsmen, which is the biggest partnership for any wicket in Tests for Afghanistan so far. During this record partnership, Rahmat Shah created a new history by scoring a brilliant double century.
Big record in the name of Afghan batsman
As soon as Rahmat Shah touched the 200-run mark, he became only the second Afghan batsman to score a double century in Test cricket. Earlier, the only double century in Test cricket for the Afghan team was in the name of captain Hashmatullah Shahidi. Shahidi had scored unbeaten 200 runs against Zimbabwe in the year 2021. Now Rahmat Shah has become the batsman with the highest score in Tests for Afghanistan.
