NADA suspended Bajrang Punia for 4 years, big reason also revealed
The National Anti-Doping Agency has suspended India’s star wrestler Bajrang Punia for four years. He had refused to give his sample for dope test in March. For this reason NADA has had to take this big decision. His suspension will begin from April 23, 2024.
Notice was sent to Bajrang on June 23
NADA had first suspended Bajrang Punia for this offense on April 23. After which the world governing body UWW also suspended him. Then Bajrang appealed against the suspension. After this, NADA’s Disciplinary Doping Panel (ADDP) canceled it on May 31. Until NADA issued notice of charges. Then NADA gave notice to Bajrang on 23 June.
Will not return to competitive wrestling
The Panel considers that the athlete is liable to sanctions under Article 10.3.1. Which is liable to suspension of 4 years. Bajrang was earlier temporarily suspended. In such a situation, the suspension of four will start from the day the notification was sent to them. The suspension means Bajrang will not be able to return to competitive wrestling and will not be able to apply for coaching jobs abroad if he wants to.
Bajrang Punia joins Congress party
Bajrang Punia has won the bronze medal for India in wrestling in the Tokyo Olympics. But he was involved in the protest against former Indian Wrestling Federation President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
