Mumbai Indians has lost a player like a diamond! Because of this the golden opportunity was lost
IPL 2025 Mega Auction is taking place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in which the first day of auction has been completed. In this, star wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has become the most expensive player, he has been bought by Lucknow Super Giants team for Rs 27 crore. Whereas, Punjab Kings team has bought Shreyas Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore. But the Mumbai Indians team missed the opportunity to get back a star player by using RTM first in the mega auction. This player is none other than Akash Madhwal.
Rajasthan Royals bought Akash Madhwal
Akash Madhwal had performed well for Mumbai Indians for some time now and proved to be quite economical. He took 14 wickets in IPL 2023 and five wickets in IPL 2024. He has also taken five wicket haul once in IPL. Madhwal’s line and length are also good and he is known for taking wickets on important occasions. Bidding war was also seen between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings for Madhwal. But Mumbai Indians team did not bid on this player in the auction. The special thing is that Mumbai did not even have the option of RATeam, because the team had already used it for Naman Dheer. In such a situation, if Mumbai had RTM, it could have got this player back.
Then in the auction, Rajasthan Royals team included Akash Madhwal in their team for Rs 1.2 crore. He has the ability to get the team out of any difficult situation. He has taken 16 wickets in first class matches. He has 25 wickets in his name in List-A.
Mumbai bought only four players
On the first day of the auction, Mumbai Indians bought only four players. These include Trent Boult, Naman Dheer, Robin Minz and Karn Sharma. Earlier in IPL retention, Mumbai had retained Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma and Tilak Verma. He had an RTM, which he used for Naman Dheer. Mumbai is counted among the most successful franchises of IPL and the team has won the title five times under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.
