The Mumbai team, which became the champion under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer in the recently played Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, has faced a bad start in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the very first match of the tournament, his team also made an unwanted record. This match was being played against the Karnataka team. This match was organized at Narendra Modi Stadium B Ground in Ahmedabad. Where Mumbai had to face a shameful defeat.

In this match played between the two teams, Mumbai team batted first and scored 382 runs. During this, Shreyas Iyer scored a brilliant century. He scored 114 runs in just 55 balls. Because of his century the team could reach this huge score. After the first innings of the match, it seemed that the Mumbai team would easily defend this score and win the match, but Karnataka chased this target in 46.2 overs. With this, Karnataka also made the record of chasing the 5th highest target in List A cricket. This was the second biggest run chase in the history of Vijay Hazare Trophy.

The bowlers include names like Shardul Thakur, Atharva Ankolekar and Tanush Kotian. Despite having such a big name, a player from Karnataka turned the whole game upside down. This player is none other than Krishnan Srijit. Krishnan Srijit has been bought by Mumbai Indians team in IPL. Krishnan Srijit played an unbeaten inning of 150 runs in 101 balls in this match. Due to which Karnataka won this match. Andhra holds the record for the highest target in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, having achieved the target of 384 runs against Goa in the 2012 tournament.
