Javed Miandad is happy with this decision of Pakistan, said this regarding Champions Trophy
This time Pakistan is hosting the Champions Trophy 2025. However, BCCI had clearly refused for this tournament that it would not allow Team India to tour Pakistan. After this, after several rounds of meetings between ICC and Pakistan Cricket Board, it was decided that till the year 2027, ICC tournaments played in both India and Pakistan will be played on hybrid model. Former Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad is very happy with this decision of Pakistan Cricket Board. He has expressed relief that ICC has finally succeeded in ending the impasse with India regarding the Champions Trophy, under which the Indian team will play all its matches at neutral venues. In return, the Pakistani team will also play all its matches in ICC tournaments held in India in the current cycle of 2027 on neutral venues.
What did Javed Miandad say?
Former Pakistan batsman Javed Miandad said on this whole issue that I think the Pakistan Cricket Board has shown wisdom and chose a solution instead of being isolated. In this, PCB has benefited more than BCCI. He said that Pakistan is hosting a big tournament after a long time. We have given a clear message that if you do not come to play in our country, we will also not go to play in India. This arrangement will be applicable in the Champions Trophy 2025, the Women’s Cricket World Cup to be held in India next year and the T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka in 2026.
Team India has not gone to Pakistan since 2008
India had refused to participate in the tournament to be held in Pakistan in February and March citing security reasons. India has not played any cricket match in Pakistan since the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks. Former Pakistan captain Wasim Bari said that all he can say is that if Indian players and fans come to Pakistan, they will be given a warm welcome. At the same time, former Pakistan captain Moin Khan said that Pakistan Cricket Board getting hosting of another ICC tournament is a positive sign for Pakistan cricket.
