The mega auction of IPL 2025 will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on this month i.e. 24 and 25 November. Many star players including Rishabh Pant will be under watch in this mega auction. Recently, when all the teams had announced their respective retention lists, Rishabh Pant’s name was not in the list of Delhi Capitals. It became clear that Delhi has released Pant. Many people were surprised by this decision of Delhi Capitals. Fans were also angry with this move of Delhi and expressed their displeasure on social media. Now a big revelation has been made in this matter.

Actually, Star Sports shared a video before the IPL mega auction in which cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar was seen talking about the possibility of wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant returning to Delhi Capitals. In this video, Gavaskar is saying that when a player has to be retained, there is a lot of discussion between the franchise and the player regarding the salary. We all saw that some players who were retained got more money than the number-1 retention fee. So they think maybe there was some disagreement between Pant and Delhi, but I think DC would definitely like to have Rishabh Pant back in their team because they need a captain.

Rishabh Pant’s reply came shortly after Sunil Gavaskar’s video was posted on social media. Responding to the video, Rishabh Pant wrote that he can definitely say that his retention was not about money.

Rishabh Pant was with Delhi Capitals since his first season in IPL i.e. 2016. Even after he was injured in a road accident in the year 2022, the Delhi team retained him with them. However, Delhi released Pant before IPL 2025. Ignoring its captain Rishabh Pant, Delhi retained Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs and Abhishek Porel.
