The auction for IPL 2025 was organized in Jeddah. A total of 577 players took part in this auction. Where 182 players were sold. Among all these players, India’s star cricketer Rishabh Pant was the most expensive and he created history in the IPL. Rishabh Pant was a part of Delhi Capitals till last season, but Delhi did not retain him before the auction and finally Lucknow Super Giants bought Rishabh Pant for Rs 27 crore. Till date in the history of IPL, no player has been paid so much money to play one season. Rishabh Pant has parted ways with Delhi Capitals after 9 years. Delhi team wanted to buy him in the auction, but they could not bid equal to Lucknow.

While sharing a post on his Instagram, the Indian wicketkeeper wrote that saying goodbye is never easy. This journey with Delhi Capitals has been nothing short of amazing. From the excitement on the field to the moments off it, I have grown in ways I never imagined. I came here as a teenager and over the last 9 years we have grown up together.
Rishabh Pant further wrote in his post that what made this journey worthwhile is you, the fans… you hugged me, encouraged me and stood with me during the most difficult phase of my life. I keep your love and support in my heart as I move forward. Whenever I take the field, I will be there to entertain you. Thank you for being my family and making this happen. Pant ready for new innings
Rishabh Pant will now start his new innings with Lucknow Super Giants. Lucknow Super Giants was looking for a captain this season. Which has been made successful by Rishabh Pant. Pant will be seen leading the Lucknow team this season. However, nothing has been disclosed by the franchise regarding this. Former Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul has become a part of Delhi Capitals.
