Indian team leaves for Oman to participate in Junior Hockey Asia Cup, will play the first match on 27th November
The Indian junior hockey team, which had won the bronze medal in the Sultan of Johor Cup, left for Oman on Friday 22nd November to participate in the Junior Asia Cup to be held in Muscat, the capital of Oman. The responsibility of guiding this team is being handled by the great goalkeeper of the Indian hockey team, PR Sreejesh, who was a part of the bronze medal winning team in the Paris Olympics. Team India had won the title for the record fourth time by defeating arch-rival Pakistan 2-1 in the final match of this tournament held last year, while this time they will have a big responsibility to save the title.
Team India got place in Pool-A
Junior Asia Cup is starting from 26th November in which the final match will be played on 4th December. The Indian team has got a place in Pool-A in which it will play its first match against Thailand on 27th November. After this, they have to play their next 2 matches against the team of Japan and Chinese Taipei on 28th and 30th November, while the last match of the group stage will be played by the Indian team against the team of Korea on 1st December. If we talk about Pool-B, it includes teams from Pakistan, Oman, China, Bangladesh and Malaysia. The top two teams performing best from both the groups will secure their place in the semi-finals.
Indian captain confident of winning the title again
Before leaving for Oman, Aamir Ali, who is handling the responsibility of captaining the Indian team in this tournament regarding the preparations for the Junior Asia Cup, said that we are preparing hard and are ready to face the challenges ahead. We all understand the importance of this tournament and our focus is to give our best performance from the very first match so that we can easily secure our place in the finals. Let us tell you that till now India is the most successful team of the tournament by winning the title in the years 2004, 2008, 2015 and 2024.
