Indian team gets new manager for Australian tour, BCCI made big announcement

India Women vs Australia Women: The Indian men’s cricket team is currently on Australia tour, where it has to play five test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. On the other hand, the Indian women’s cricket team will also go to Australia in December to play a three-match ODI series, the squad for which has already been announced by the BCCI. The command of the team is in the hands of Harmanpreet Kaur. Now BCCI, taking a big decision, appointed Meghalaya Cricket Association President Naba Bhattacharjee as the manager of the Indian women’s cricket team for the Australia tour.

Working in Meghalaya Cricket for last 15 years

Naba Bhattacharjee told PTI that the tour committee has informed me and all concerned about my selection as manager. It is an honor and I am excited for this position. I will try to further promote sports among the youth of the indigenous community of the state. I am grateful to Jai Shah for this post. Bhattacharjee has been playing a key role in the development of cricket in Meghalaya for the last 15 years after working in the BCCI’s New Area Development Programme. He achieved permanent membership of the state board in 2018 and has been a part of many BCCI domestic and international tournaments in the past.

Shefali Verma is not part of the team

Young opener Shefali Verma has not got a place for the ODI series. The responsibility of the team’s batting against Australia will be on Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodriguez and Richa Ghosh. Whereas Renuka Singh, Deepti Sharma, Arundhati Reddy have got a chance in the bowling attack. The first and second ODIs between the Indian women’s team and the Australian women’s team will be played on the Brisbane grounds. The third and last ODI match will be held on December 11 at Perth. All three ODI matches will start at 9.50 am Indian time.

1st ODI: 5 December, Brisbane

2nd ODI: 8 December, Brisbane
Third ODI- 11 December, Perth

Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Smriti Mandhana (vice-captain), Priya Punia, Jemimah Rodrigues, Tejal Hasbanis, Deepti Sharma, Minnu Mani, Priya Mishra, Radha Yadav, Titas Sadhu, Arundhati Reddy, Renuka Singh Thakur, Saima Thakur, Harleen Deol, Yastika Bhatia (wicket keeper), Richa Ghosh (wicket keeper).
