IND vs AUS: Team India got a big blow after the defeat, ICC gave big punishment
The Indian women’s cricket team faced a crushing defeat in the ODI series on the Australia tour. The Indian women’s team could not win a single match in the 3-match ODI series. In the third ODI played in Perth, Australia batted first and scored a big score of 298 runs for 6 wickets, thanks to a century by Nabel Sutherland. In response, the Indian team was reduced to 215 runs in 45.1 overs despite Mandhana’s inning of 105 runs in 109 balls with 14 fours and one six. Actually, the Indian women’s cricket team has been fined 10 percent of the match fee for slow over reach in the second ODI against Australia. ICC match referee David Gilbert imposed the penalty because Harmanpreet Kaur’s team bowled two overs less than the target in the stipulated time.
Captain admitted his mistake
The ICC statement said that India captain Harmanpreet Kaur has admitted the offense and also accepted the proposed penalty, so there is no need for a formal hearing. These allegations were made by field umpires Claire Polosak and Donovan Koch, third umpire Jacqueline Williams and fourth umpire David Taylor. According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for each over not bowled in their stipulated time.
Team India’s 7th consecutive defeat
It is noteworthy that in the second ODI played in Brisbane also, the Indian team had to face a huge defeat. Australia made its highest ever score of 371/8 in ODI against India. In response, India could score only 249 runs and lost the series by 122 runs. With the loss of the third match, Team India had to face its 7th consecutive defeat at the hands of Australia in ODIs.
