IND vs AUS: Nitish Reddy became the first player to achieve this feat in Test, created a new history in the first 6 innings
Nitish Reddy Top Scorer Four Times In His First Six Innings: Nitish Reddy has emerged as the biggest discovery during the Indian team’s tour of Australia. After making his debut in the Perth Test match, the way Reddy has impressed with both his batting and bowling, his place in Team India is now completely confirmed. In the Boxing Day Test match being played in Melbourne Stadium, Nitish’s bat saw an excellent century in which he played an inning of 114 runs and avoided the threat of follow-on looming over Team India, but Australia was defeated on the basis of first innings. Also prevented from taking a bigger lead. On the basis of his century, Nitish also achieved a feat which no player had been able to do in Test cricket before.
First player to be the top scorer while playing at No. 7 or below four times in the first 6 innings.
Nitish Reddy has played a total of 6 innings in his Test career so far, out of which he has been the highest run scorer for the team 4 times. Nitish played innings of 41, 38, 42, 42, 14 and 114 runs in his first 6 innings. Out of these, there are four innings in which he has managed to score the maximum runs for the team in that innings. With this, Nitish has become the first player in the history of Test cricket, who has been the top scorer for the team while playing at number 7 or below in four of his first 6 Test innings.
Nitish Reddy also becomes a part of Sunil Gavaskar and Harry Brook’s club
With his century of 114 runs in the Melbourne Test, Nitish Reddy has now become a part of an exclusive club of Sunil Gavaskar and Harry Brook. Before Nitish, Gavaskar and Brook were the only two players in Test cricket who scored the most runs for the team in four of their first six Test innings. Nitish Reddy’s performance in this ongoing series against Australia can be gauged from the fact that out of the 5 innings in which Team India has been all out, Reddy has been the top scorer in four.
