Fire broke out in team hotel in Pakistan, players escaped burning; Big tournament had to be stopped
The Pakistan Cricket Board had to abruptly halt the ongoing National Women’s ODI tournament in Karachi after a fire broke out in the team hotel, resulting in a narrow escape for five players. There was a stir in Pakistan after the fire. The PCB had booked an entire floor for the five competing teams and team officials. Most of the players were out of the hotel at the time of the fire. No player was injured
A PCB source said that when the fire broke out, all the cricketers and officials except five players were at the National Stadium for a match or a net session. There has been no damage to the property of players and officials. No players were injured as the PCB immediately evacuated the five players who were in the hotel at the time of the incident and safely shifted them to the Hanif Mohammed High-Performance Centre.
The final will be held between the top two teams of the points table
The decision to stop the tournament midway was taken while giving top priority to the health and safety of the players. Apart from this, PCB is not getting even 100 rooms in any hotel, which are as per the required facilities. Now to decide the winner of the National Women’s ODI Tournament, it has been told in the press release of PCB that Invincibles and Stars are the top-2 teams in the points table. She will play the final match. The date and venue of the final will be announced in due course.
