In the IPL 2024 mega auction, a lottery has been held for three star players, who are out of the Indian T20 team. These include KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Yuzvendra Chahal. These players have got huge amount in the auction and these players have become rich. Shreyas Iyer and Rahul are also likely to become captains. Both these players were captains in their previous franchises also.
1. KL Rahul
KL Rahul is out of the Indian T20 International team. He played the last T20 International match for Team India against England in the year 2022. Only after that he has not got a chance to play T20I match. After this, Rahul was not even retained by Lucknow Super Giants team in IPL retention. There was already a possibility that he might go to another team. There was a bidding war between RCB and KKR to buy KL Rahul in the IPL mega auction. After this Delhi Capitals also joined the bidding. Finally Delhi Capitals bought Rahul by paying Rs 14 crore. Rahul has not been able to perform as per his name for some time now. So far he has scored 4683 runs in 132 IPL matches.
2. Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer is out of the Indian T20 team due to poor form. Till now, he played the last T20 International match for Team India in the year 2023. It was under the captaincy of Iyer that the Kolkata Knight Riders team won the IPL 2024 title. But still the KKR team did not retain him. After this, money has been showered on him in the auction. Iyer was bought by Punjab for Rs 26.75 crore, whereas his base price was only Rs 2 crore. There is every possibility that he becomes the captain of Punjab Kings.
3. Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal is currently out of the Indian T20 team. The last T20 International match for Team India was played in the year 2023. But now he has got a huge amount in the auction. Punjab Kings team has bought him for Rs 18 crore. Chahal, the most successful bowler of IPL, also had to enter the mega auction because Rajasthan Royals had released him before IPL 2025. Chahal is the highest wicket taker in the history of IPL. He has taken 208 wickets in 160 IPL matches.
