Afghanistan’s all-rounder was punished, ICC took major action
A three-match T20 series is being played between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe. Two matches of the series have been played. The first match of the series was won by the Zimbabwean team. In the second match, Afghanistan team made a brilliant comeback and defeated Zimbabwe by 50 runs. Due to the victory in this match, they have achieved 1-1 draw in the series. The third match of the series is being played on 14 December. Just before the start of this match, ICC has given a big blow to a star all-rounder of the Afghanistan team. This player is none other than Gulbadin Naib.
ICC took action
Gulbadin Naib did something during the second match of the T20 series, due to which ICC had to take action. Actually, Gulbadin Naib had expressed disagreement with a decision of the umpire during that match played in Harare. After this, ICC took action on Saturday and fined him 15 percent of the match fee.
Afghanistan’s Gulbadin Naib has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second T20 International against Zimbabwe in Harare on Friday, the ICC said in a statement. Accordingly, NAB has been punished for breaching Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which pertains to dissenting from an umpire’s decision during an international match.
what is the whole matter
The incident occurred during the 11th over of Zimbabwe’s innings when the umpire’s leg before appeal against Tashinga Musekiwa off captain Rashid Khan’s bowling was rejected. In addition to the fine, one demerit point has been added to the former Afghanistan captain’s disciplinary record which is his first offense within a period of 24 months. The cricketer accepted it so there was no need for a formal hearing.
