Bhubaneswar: A woman jumped off Gadagadi bridge into the Kharasrota river with her 9-month-old baby girl following an alleged quarrel with her husband on Friday. The incident unfolded as the couple, residents of Khandola village under Aul police limits, were returning from Dalikainda village in an auto.
According to sources, tensions escalated between the couple during their journey, leading to a heated exchange of words. Matters came to a head when the woman abruptly stopped the auto on the bridge, seized her daughter, and leaped into the river. In a desperate attempt to save them, her husband followed suit and plunged into the water.
Fortunately, locals in the vicinity spotted the trio and promptly intervened, rescuing all three individuals from the river. Following the rescue, they were immediately rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Aul for medical attention. Subsequently, they were transferred to the District Headquarters Hospital for further treatment.
