In recent times, a wave of defections has swept through the political landscape of Odisha, particularly from the ruling BJD to the saffron camp of the BJP. Four sitting MLAs, formerly affiliated with the BJD, along with over 10 former legislators, made the leap to the BJP, hopeful of a brighter political future under its banner. Among the notable defectors is Arabinda Dhali, a six-time MLA and former Minister, who represents the Jayadev constituency in Khurda district.
