Scuffle Erupts Between Mahila Congress Activists and Police in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Tensions escalated in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday as activists of the Mahila Congress clashed with police officers while attempting to march towards Naveen Niwas, the official residence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Led by All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba and Odisha Mahila Congress president Minakshi Bahinipati, members of the Mahila Congress organized a rally to protest against the increasing incidents of violence against women in the state. The rally aimed to surround Naveen Niwas as a symbolic gesture of their discontent.
However, as the protestors approached Ashok Nagar, they were met with barricades erected by the police to block their path. A confrontation ensued as the activists attempted to remove and bypass the barricades, leading to a scuffle with law enforcement officers.
The situation remained tense as both sides engaged in heated exchanges, highlighting the frustration and determination of the protestors to voice their concerns. Police officers maintained their stance, insisting on maintaining order and preventing the protestors from advancing towards the Chief Minister’s residence.
