Odisha Prepares for Hotter Days Ahead as IMD Forecasts Rise in Temperatures
Bhubaneswar: After a period of wet weather, Odisha is bracing itself for hotter days ahead, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting a rise in temperatures across the state starting from March 11. According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, maximum daytime temperatures are expected to gradually increase by 4-6°C over the next 3 to 4 days, with no significant change anticipated thereafter.
Likewise, minimum nighttime temperatures are forecasted to rise by 2-4°C over the next 3 days, with no major fluctuations expected thereafter in many places across the state.
The MeT Centre has also indicated the possibility of rain in certain areas on Saturday and Sunday. There is a chance of light rain accompanied by lightning in some districts, particularly along the south coastal region of Odisha.
With a cyclonic circulation positioned over south Odisha and its vicinity, coupled with the trough from north Odisha to north Coastal Andhra Pradesh becoming less pronounced, light rain or thundershowers may occur at isolated locations across several districts of Odisha from March 14 onwards, the weather forecast suggests. Additionally, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are highly likely to occur at a few places in districts such as Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Gajapati, and Ganjam, and at isolated spots in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, and Nuapada districts.
