Former NALCO Chairman Tapan Chand Joins BJP, Expresses Admiration for PM Modi’s Leadership

Bhubaneswar: Tapan Chand, the former Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, signaling a notable addition to the party’s ranks. Chand’s decision to embrace the BJP was marked by a ceremony held at the BJP State headquarters, attended by party State president Manmohan Samal and other senior leaders.

Accompanied by his supporters, Chand arrived at the BJP office in a rally, where he was warmly welcomed by party president Manmohan Samal. The veteran leader, renowned in the mining and metal sector, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the BJP fold.

Chand’s association with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) during his college days and his academic excellence as a gold medallist from Utkal University underscore his longstanding commitment to public service and organizational leadership.

Assuming the role of CMD at NALCO in 2015, Chand demonstrated commendable leadership, steering the Navratna PSU through various challenges and contributing significantly to its growth and development.

In a statement following his induction into the BJP, Chand expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dedication and sacrifice for the welfare of the nation. He cited the Prime Minister’s vision and commitment to public service as inspirations behind his decision to join the BJP.

Chand pledged to work diligently as a member of the BJP, vowing to raise awareness about the transformative initiatives of the Modi government, particularly highlighting the “Modi Guarantee” aimed at ensuring the welfare and empowerment of every citizen.

In a show of solidarity, several former Navy officers, including Bipin Mishra, Dinabandhu Sarangi, Ashok Patnaik, and Ramesh Lenka, along with Air Force officers Krutibas Mishra and NK Mishra, also formally joined the BJP, further bolstering the party’s cadre with their wealth of experience and commitment to national service.
