Bhubaneswar: Mamata Mohanta uncontestedly elected to the Rajya Sabha. Mamata went to the Assembly to get the certificate from the Returning Officer.
On last 22nd, 2 candidates submitted their nomination papers for the only vacant seat in Odisha for the Rajya Sabha bypolls. BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan also filed his nomination independently while former MP Mamata Mahanth filed her nomination papers from the BJP ticket. The nomination papers of both were filed.
Today Jagannath withdrew his nomination papers this morning. Jagannath Pradhan said that the nomination has been withdrawn on the instructions of the party. After the withdrawal of Pradhan’s nomination, BJP candidate Mamata Mahanta has been elected to the Rajya Sabha uncontestedly.
