Sambalpur: 4 gates of Hirakud Dam have been closed. Now it is reported that water drainage from Hirakud is continuing through 10 gates. The flood water was first drained from the Hirakud reservoir at 9:30 am on the 4th.
According to tradition, like every year, this year too, the gate number 7 on the left side was opened first. Then 5 sluice gates on the left side and 2 sluice gates on the right side were opened. Then 9 gates on the left side and 4 gates on the right side are opened.
Officials of Hirakud Reservoir informed that till Sunday evening the flood water is being drained through a total of 20 gates. IG Himanshu Lal, Uttar Pradesh Police Range, Sambalpur District Magistrate Akshay Sunil Agarwal and SP Mukesh Bhamu opened the gate along with the Chief Minister.
