Centre Approves 5 New Districts In Ladakh
Ladakh: The central government announced the names of 5 new districts in Ladakh. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has informed about the formation of 5 new districts in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The 5 districts that formed the Ministry of Home Affairs were; Janaskar, Dras, Sham, Nubra and Changthang.
However, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that by forming these districts, it will be easier to provide services to the people and the people will be closer to the government. Home Minister Amit Shah has written in his social media account X, that the Modi government wants to provide a lot of opportunities for the people of Ladakh.
Also, according to the Ladakh government website, two districts of Ladakh will be known as the capital of Ladakh, namely Leh and Kargil.
However, the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act of 2019 divided the former state into two Union Territories. One is from Jammu and Kashmir which has its own assembly and the other from Ladakh which has no assembly.
