Many people in India like to make chole at home during festivals. Some people eat Bhature or Puri with chickpeas, while some people like to eat rice with chickpeas. If your brother also likes chole, then you can make chole in Punjabi style for your brother on the day of Bhaiya Dooj. First step- To make Punjabi style chickpeas, first of all you have to put one cup of chickpeas soaked overnight in the cooker and cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
Second step- When the pressure of the cooker reduces, take out the chickpeas and keep them in a vessel. After this, put oil in a pan and let it heat.
Third step- Now add one teaspoon cumin, one teaspoon asafoetida, 2 cloves, 2 cardamoms, one bay leaf, 2 large finely chopped onions and 2 finely chopped green chillies in the pan and fry them till they turn golden.
Fourth step- After this, you have to add one inch grated ginger and fry it a little.
Fifth step- Now you have to add one teaspoon coriander powder, one teaspoon cumin powder, half teaspoon red chili powder, half teaspoon garam masala, half teaspoon dry mango powder and salt in the pan and mix everything well.
Sixth step- After this, add boiled chickpeas to this mixture. Now add some water to the pan, cover it and cook for about five minutes.
You can garnish the chickpeas with onion, green chilli and coriander. Hot chole is ready to serve. You can serve these Punjabi style chole with bhature, puri or rice.
