Bhubaneswar: NAFED to sell onion at Rs 30 per kg. Food Supply Minister Krishna Chandra Patra has informed about this.
Onion comes to Odisha from Nashik in Maharashtra and Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. Due to rains in September, the crops in both the regions were severely damaged.
When asking about the price, the minister stated that “Onion is not produced in Odisha and hence we are dependent on other states. The price of onion and garlic is higher outside the state and due to which its price has also increased here.”
“The price of onion is higher in Nashik. There it is Rs 45 per kg.
We have asked NAFED to sell onion at Rs 30 per kg.” the minister informed.
