Bhubaneswar: The use of mobile phones and water bottles in Odisha assembly is banned. No MLA or Minister can carry mobile or water bottle inside the Assembly. Speaker Surma Padhy has issued a fine.
In today’s session, Speaker Surma Padhy stopped the MLA from taking pictures in the house.
It is clear that many MLAs are seen talking on their mobiles while the house is in progress. So the speaker imposed restrictions on the use of mobile phones. Also, no MLA can enter the assembly with a water bottle. There is a provision of drinking water outside the Assembly.
Therefore, the use of mobile phones and water bottles in the assembly is inappropriate, said speaker.
