Odisha: Ratan Tata’s relationship with Odisha was very strong and unbreakable. Odisha was a gold mine for his Tata Steel Company, hence Odisha was his first choice in the industrial sector. In Odisha, Tata’s contribution in all fields of industry, social services and economics is unique. Ratan Tata has come to Odisha many times for his direct presence in Kalinga Nagar Steel Plant in Jajpur, Gopalpur Project and Jaga Mission in Ganjam.
Legend Ratan Tata came to Odisha for the first time in 1995. Attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Gopalpur Steel Project. Later, in 2018, he started the Jaga Mission project with the then Naveen government to provide houses to the slum dwellers in Odisha. Which was recognized as the biggest project in the world at that time. It is clear that Ratan Tata and his Tata Group have always stood shoulder to shoulder with the state government even during the crisis of the state. Now Tata Group’s various franchises are contributing to the development of Odisha in the fields of education, health, entrepreneurship, science and technology.
More importantly, last month Tata had announced the second phase of expansion of the Kalinga Nagar plant. After that, the capacity of the Kalinga Nagar plant will increase from 30 lakh tons to 80 lakh tons per year. Which will help to make Odisha a big investment state.
However, yesterday at a private hospital in Mumbai, he died due to old age at the age of 86. Which is an irreparable loss to the industrial world and the whole of India and Odisha as well.
