Odia Film ‘Daman’ Selected For The 70th National Film Awards
Bhubaneswar: The 70th National Film Awards have been announced. Odia Film ‘Daman’ Selected For The 70th National Film Awards for the category of best Odia film. The movie was written and directed by Vishal Mourya and Debi Prasad Lenka and produced by Deependra Samal.
The film describes a doctor’s journey against superstition on one hand and his struggles in the new environment on the other. The doctor takes it upon him to eradicate malaria and to create awareness among the people about the disease.
Babusan Mohanty, who played the lead role in the movie, said, “This movie has changed the trend of traditional stories in Odisha.”
The film was also released nationally in Hindi, avoiding many hurdles. The film Daman explores malaria prevention in the remote areas of Malkangiri.
