Bhubaneswar: For the second time since the Mohan government returned to power, BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik’s security has been reduced. Even though he lost the chief minister’s post, he has been in power for 5-5 times in the state. He is also the leader of the opposition party. Now his security has been reduced from Z to Y. Due to which state politics has become active. The ruling and opposition are facing off over this. So let’s know how Naveen will be protected after the reduction of his security.
According to an official source, his Z category security has been reduced and now it has been made Y category. However, his security has been reduced after the recommendation of a high-level committee. When he was the chief minister, he was given Z category security. In which 200 security personnel were deployed for the protection of him and Naveen’s residence. According to this Z security, a person is protected by 22 personnel. However, after this reduction, Naveen will be protected by only 10 security personnel. In which there will be two personal security officers (PSOs). According to a Home Department official, Naveen will now be given category Y security. In which 8-11 security personnel will be deployed. If necessary, more security personnel will be provided for any visit.
According to the report, the PSO who worked with Naveen Patnaik for a long time after he became the Chief Minister has retired. But they are still engaged to provide him security. However, while most of the security personnel have been removed, it has been reported that only two constables with the rank of habildar have been given this responsibility.
The security of opposition party leader Naveen Patnaik will be reduced. The security of Naveen and some others will be reduced. This has been informed by Police DG Y.B. Khurania. He said that this is a regular process. The state-level committee reviews it from time to time. The security arrangements are taken as per the decision of the committee.
However, senior BJP MLA Jayanarayar Mishra has stated on this issue. He said, Naveen is living in fear that people will throw him out for what he did in the previous government.
But when I was the Leader of the Opposition, I never took protection. Even now, as an MLA, I have not taken protection. Now, if the protection of the leaders of the opposition party is decreasing, there are rules. The government is working according to that, said Jayanarayan Mishra.
