Puri: The inventory of the Ratna Bhandar will be completed by the end of next January. Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan has informed that the work of inventory of the ornaments along with the renovation of the Ratna Bhandar will be completed.
In this regard, the Minister said that due to the heavy crowd of devotees in the month of Kartik, the ASI could not complete the renovation of the Ratna Bhandar. However, the renovation work will start now. The ASI has made preparations for this. I hope that the inventory of the Ratna Bhandar will be completed by the end of January. Since the month of Kartik is over, the ASI will start the renovation work very soon. After the renovation is completed, the inventory process will begin by taking the gems and ornaments from the temporary storage to the Ratna Bhandar. However, after it was found that there was no secret room inside the Ratna Bhandar, the Minister said that the ASI will now expedite its work.
However, as per the instructions and approved guidelines of the state government, the Ratna Bhandar of the temple was opened after a long 46 years on 14th July this year. All the ornaments and items in the Ratna Bhandar were shifted to a temporary strongroom house. Later, the ASI and an archaeological expert surveyed the Ratna Bhandar and checked where there were any cracks. The minister was of the opinion that all the work will be done after checking so that there will be no need for repairs for the next 100 years.
