Bhubaneswar: Mamata Mohanta, BJP’s Rajya Sabha candidate, filed her nomination today. Mamata Mohanta came to the assembly and filed her nomination papers. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has been the first proponent of Mamata’s nomination.
However, in terms of numbers, since the ruling party BJP has the required number of members, it is certain that Mamata will go to the Rajya Sabha. Rajya Sabha referendum will be held on September 3 if necessary. Votes will be counted and election results will be announced at 5 pm of the voting day.
Mamata recently resigned from the post of Rajya Sabha member and left Biju Janata Dal and joined BJP. BJP announced Mamata Mahanth as Rajya Sabha candidate on Tuesday. She is a prominent leader of the Kudumi community.
There are many people in this community in Mayurbhanj and neighboring Keonjhar district. Mamata was sent by BJD Rajya Sabha in 2020. On July 31, he resigned from Rajya Sabha and BJD as well. Mamata expressed her dissatisfaction while resigning from BJD. She alleged that she was ignored in the party. Later she joined the BJP the next day, and now she has filed her nomination.
