Bhubaneswar: Naveen Patnaik, the leader of the opposition party, targeted the state government. Naveen said that the BJP’s promise on the issue of allowances is empty. Posting X, Naveen wrote that in its election manifesto, BJP had promised to pay allowances of Rs 3,000 and Rs 3,500. This included the elderly, the disabled, widows and the destitute.
According to the budget, only senior citizens above 80 years of age and those with 80% disability and disabilities will get this enhanced allowance. The announcement is not being followed even with a loan of 45 thousand crore rupees. It is clear from this that the BJP’s promises have been faded off. Allowance holder seniors and all Odisha residents have been cheated. Naveen said that such deception has increased public dissatisfaction among people.
Naveen also said that his party is going to start a public awareness campaign from August 16. An awareness program will be conducted in every panchayat. BJD will come forward for the rights of the elderly. Every worker and conscious citizen will get involved and wake people up about BJP’s deception. I hope that the BJP will keep its promise to the people of Odisha.
