Between Uncertainty What Did Manmohan Say on His Ticket to RS?

Bhubaneswar: Who will go to the Rajya Sabha from BJP? This is the most heated question in Odisha politics. When talking about the race after Mamata Mohanta’s resignation this gossip became more heated with the probabilities of BJP leaders who could be elected to the upper house. In this regard the name of Manmohan Samal, State BJP President, was top in the list. But now his statement somehow put a fullstop on the gossip. Manmohan said, I am not in the Rajya Sabha race. The media is talking unnecessarily. The Parliamentary Board meeting to be held in Delhi will decide who will go to the Rajya Sabha. Saying this, state BJP president Manmohan Samal has avoided the gossip.

In the last few days there has been a lot of discussion about which BJP will be elected to the Rajya Sabha. Looking at the Rajya Sabha equation and the political situation, it is being said that BJP can repeat Mamata. If the BJP sends Mamata to the Rajya Sabha again, the BJP will win the trust of both the Kudumi community and Mamata and send a good message to the entire state. 

After Mamata there was a chance, BJP will send Manmohan Samal. Because Manmohan also has the credit of making the BJP government in the state for the first time. Since he himself lost the election, he is not involved in the state government. Therefore, it was being said that the party can reward him by sending him to the Rajya Sabha. But he clarified his statement between certainty and uncertainty. 

Manmohan came to Koraput for a day and reviewed the meeting of party workers. He advised the workers to review the status of 5 constituencies and organize the party more at the grassroots level. BJP has won in Koraput, Kotpad seats out of 5 constituencies in Koraput district. Manmohan held discussions with senior party leaders to find out the reasons behind the defeat and to adjust the organization as party candidates lost in other 3 seats, Lakshmipur, Jaipur, Patangi. In a press conference held after the workers’ meeting, Manmohan thanked the people for bringing the BJP into the government alone.
