Fire Service Departments to Be On Alert for Holi Celebrations in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: As the vibrant festival of Holi approaches, the Fire Service Department in Bhubaneswar is gearing up to ensure the safety and security of residents and visitors during the festivities. With a focus on preventing untoward incidents, the department has announced plans to remain on high alert throughout the celebration.
Special teams comprising six members each have been formed by the Fire Service Department to oversee safety measures during Holi. These teams will be strategically deployed across the city, with particular attention given to areas identified as vulnerable to drowning-related accidents.
Five key locations have been pinpointed as potential hotspots for such incidents, including the bathing ghats of the Kuakhai and Daya rivers, the Puri Canal, Balipatna siphon, and Bankual. Fire Service personnel will maintain a vigilant presence at these sites, equipped with necessary rescue equipment to swiftly respond to any emergencies.
Deputy Fire Officer Abani Kumar Swain highlighted the proactive approach taken by the department, stating, “We will be deploying our rescue teams, especially at bathing ghats where accidents occur. Prominent among these are river Daya, river Kuakhai, Puri canal, Balipatna siphon, and Balianta. These teams will be equipped with lifebuoys, life jackets, scuba sets, underwater buoys, machine rubber boats, rescue lines, underwater buoys, etc.”
